| | | The Epic Voyage of the Seven Little Sistersby William Willis
Most people who visit the Ripping Yarns.com website will be familiar with Thor Heyerdahl's Kon Tiki Adventure in which Heyerdahl and his crew sailed part-way across the Pacific in a raft.
Less well known, is William Willis - in two great adventures, he rafted single-handed across the Pacific. The first was from South America to Samoa, 6700 miles - 2200 miles further than Heyerdahl. In a second great voyage, he rafted all the way from South America to Australia. What is even more remarkable was that he was aged sixty-one at the time of the first voyage, and seventy during the latter!
The Epic Voyage of the Seven Little Sisters tells how this 61 year-old man sailed to Samoa in his first great raft voyage. Willis was alone - apart from a parrot, a manic cat and 'Long Tom' - the large shark which trailed Willis' raft, just waiting and waiting...
For anyone interested in the sea, this is a cracking book.
