Within Four Walls

by M.C.C. Harrison and H.A. Cartwright

The most famous prisoner of war camp of them all was Colditz, and the account of that camp in the Second World War was Pat Reid's The Colditz Story.

In his introduction to that book, Pat Reid stated that three of the greatest escape stories ever written were The Road to En-Dor, The Escaping Club and this book - Within Four Walls.

Having at last read Within Four Walls, I now know that Pat Reid was right - it is a gripping story, but at times humorous and light hearted. Captain Cartwright's illustrations bring many of the scenes to life.

This book was one of the reasons why I decided to start up www.RippingYarns.com - there are just too many classic tales destined to disappear into oblivion that deserve a better fate.
